The Last Quarter of the Moon is the story chronicling the vicissitude of Ewenki civilization in the 20th century in the perspective of death and redemption. The work to a certain degree is the literary reconstruction of nature and primi- tivelife, which manifests itself differently from those Chinese novels in the trend of rewriting history since 1990s. In terms of, for example, the transcendentalnarration of death and maternal love, as well as the paradoxical attitude, being complimentary and meanwhile suppressive, to divinity, the work implies the estimable value of embracing nature, love and goodness which, however, has been neglectedby modern civilized people in the historical process of being modernity. The Last Quarter of the Moon in this sense though dissociates itself from history and reality actually criticizes the weakness of moderncivilization in a way of constructing the Ewenki"anti-civilization".
