基于语料库的近义词辨析研究——以suspect和doubt为例

On Corpus-based Synonym Discrimination——With the Example of Synonyms "Suspect" and "Doubt"

近义词辨析是英语学习的难点。传统的近义词辨析教学是通过词典释义来进行的,这一方法无法让学生对近义词的细微差异产生全面的认识。而基于语料库的近义词辨析借助语料库容量大、语料真实、检索快捷的特点,从词频、语域、搭配及语义韵特征等方面对近义词进行全方位辨析,为近义词辨析教学提供了新的视角。

Synonym discrimination has always been a difficulty in English learning. Traditionally,definitions and examples from dictionaries are taken to illustrate shades of differences between synonyms,which fail to provide a comprehensive description of these differences for students to differ synonyms. However,by taking use of corpus＇ large volume,authentic materials,fast and convenient retrieval,the corpus-based synonym discrimination method can make an all-around description of synonyms in terms of their use in different registers,collocations and prosody. Thus,this method can provide a new perspective for synonym discrimination.
