In the record of the Whole Voyage, there are three cases in which different rituals are performed to receive the Korean messengers, namely the daily etiquette, the vassal state etiquette and the general state guest etiquette. In the order of the ancient East Asia, these rituals are the reflection of both the promotion of harmonious diplomatic relations and the state relations between Japan and Korea. From the rituals we can tell that both sides offer the etiquette at the same level to each other. But from the conflict of specific etiquette and the asymmetry of state guest etiquette,we can realize that Japan has a sense of superiority over Korea and a Japanese- style ideology of 'China and the foreign countries relationship'viewing Korean messengers as men who are paying tribute.
