中西方英文个人陈述的对比研究——从体裁分析看文化差异

A comparative study of personal statements written by chinese students and native English speakers

尽管个人陈述在学生申请留学的过程中扮演着重要角色,却很少受到关注。为探讨中西方英文个人陈述的差异,运用体裁分析理论,对中国学生和英语本族语学生的英文个人陈述进行对比分析,发现两者在语步结构和语言特征两方面存在有明显的文化差异。旨在帮助中国学生进一步了解个人陈述的体裁特征,写出更加地道的英文个人陈述。

In spite of the significant role in application process,personal statement has so far received little attention.In order to discover the differences between Chinese and western English personal statement,the present paper conducted genre analysis and compared personal statements written by Chinese students and native English students.The comparison demonstrates an obvious cultural differences in move structure and linguistic features.This finding is instructive for Chinese students to further understand the genre feature of personal statement and write in a more authentic way.
