Inquiring into Life by Writing about Death: A Thematic Study of the Book As I Lay Dying

福克纳的小说《我弥留之际》围绕主人公安迪·本德仑的死展开,死亡主题在书中不断重现。通过对书中的死亡主题进行分析,笔者认为福克纳是想通过描写书中人物对死亡的奇特反应,来引起读者对现代社会中人的异化状态和生存困境的关注。

William Faulkner＇s novel As I Lay Dying centers around the death of Addie Bundren, it is quite obvious that the death theme recurs throughout the whole book. By exploring the death theme in the novel, this paper concludes that Faulkner wants to draw our atten-tions to the alienations and dilemmas confront modern people.
