《赎罪》是英国当代著名作家伊恩·麦克尤恩的代表作之一,在众多的主题之中,成长主题尤为突出。文章从成长主题的视角出发探讨了主人公由无知到成熟的心灵历程,成长的阵痛以及为此付出的代价在这部成长小说得到了很好的体现,主人公写作赎罪的过程正是其成长的过程。

Atonement is one of the representative works by Ian McEwan, one of the famous contemporary British novelists. It attracts the attention of readers and critics due to its original and unique narrative style and techniques and the multiple themes it discusses. This paper studies the mental course of the protagonist from ignorance to mature from the perspective of growth. Among the themes it discusses, the theme of growth is especially obvious. The pain of growth and the price for growth are well shown in this novel. The pro- mess in which the protagonist atones in the wav of writing is also the progress of her own growth.
