Greatly acclaimed by world-renowned writers even before its winning of the Nobel Prize, Doctor Zhivago has now become an enduring classic of world literature. This paper attempts to bring out the inner workings and poetic charms of this classical novel through a detailed analysis of romance confrontation, juxtaposition of poetry and prose, contingent plots and the symbolic system based on images.
