英汉过渡标记语的异同——以小说语篇为例

An Exploration of Transitions in Chinese and English

在语言资源中,不仅存在着可以用来表达命题意义的语言成分,也存在着大量具备引导功能的过渡标记语。过渡标记语有内部和外部之分:内部标记语涉及语言间的内部关系,说明话语的步骤;外部标记语与话语情境相关,连接语篇外部世界的活动。以小说语篇为例,在英汉小说中,过渡标记语都起着非常重要的连接作用,体现的是话语的程序性语义表达,并且在语言的演变过程中,表逻辑语义关系的过渡标记语经历了从实到虚的演变过程,但英汉语过渡标记在数量和体现形式上也存在差异。

In a language system,other than words to express the propositional meaning,there also are the transitions with inductive function. Transitions can be divided into internal and external ones. Internal transitions revealing the steps of discourse are concerned with the internal relations in language while external transitions concerning the context of discourse describe the external activities of discourse. The two kinds of transitions are to be discussed in short stories,in which transitions play a very important role in connecting discourse. Transitions in English and Chinese stories embody the procedural representation of meaning,and undergo the process of change from the functional to the grammatical. Transitions in Chinese and English differ in the aspect of language representation as well as quantity.
