Pinter Women Playing as Lovers

In“The Homecoming”,“The Lover”and“A Sight Ache ”,three of Pinter＇s plays,the wives take on“lover”images. Weakening the stability of identity,Pinter women become heterogeneous existence within the patriarchal system and challenge the existing gender order. Seen from Julia Kristeva＇s semiotic theory, the Pinter lovers undermine the closed system of male symbolic language, opening up infinite possibilities for individual existence.
