Wang Anyi expresses her historical conception which is different from traditional and mainstream ones in Everlasting Retret and Xiaobaozhuang. Instead of discussing about major events of history,this kind of historical conception is about existence and inheritance of all mankind that inspires us to show our respect and attention to people at the edge of the society and their daily life.
