Discussion on the generation of qi from all parts of ginseng used as medicine

气是人体生命活动的物质基础,气的生成正常是其发挥生理功能的前提。气的生成,自上而下与肺、脾胃、肾关系最为密切。人参历为大补元气之圣药,全草均可入药,其自上而下以叶补肺气、根茎补脾胃之气、果填补肾精,犹若人体之有肺、脾胃及肾三脏,浑然一体,不仅切合取象比类思维,同时"全人参"作为一个整体,入药补气亦是中医整体观的具体体现。

As the material basis of human life activities, the normal generation of qi is the precondition of its physiological function. The generation of qi is closely related to the lung, spleen, stomach and kidney from the body top to bottom. As an effective medicine of invigorating primordial qi, the whole ginseng could he used as medicine. From the ginseng top to bottom, ginseng leaf could invigorate the lung qi, ginseng rhizome could invigorate the spleen and stomach qi and the ginseng fruit could tonify the kidney, as if the lung, spleen, stomach and kidney from the body top to bottom. Not only does the concept of ‘all parts of ginseng used as medicine＇ correspond with the thought of comparative states, but also the concept of ‘all parts of ginseng used as medicine＇ is a reflection of the TCM holism.
