Discussion on XU's TCM pediatrics warming-yang method in treating asthma from Treatise on Febrile Diseases

小儿哮喘是一种发作性哮鸣气促的疾病,《伤寒论》书中虽无咳喘专篇,但有关于"咳喘""上气""气逆"的描述,并确立了相应治法方药。徐氏儿科推崇张仲景之法,擅用温阳治疗哮喘,其表现在:1宣肺平喘,善用麻黄;2化饮平喘,善用青龙;3温阳为本、善用附子。徐氏儿科认为,小儿以阳气为本,处处以顾护阳气为重,辨证宜严谨,用药方能果敢。以上诸药,虽为峻药,运用得法,可奏奇效。

Pediatric asthma is a kind of paroxysmal wheezing dyspnea disease. Though there is no specialized articles about asthma in Treatise on Febrile Diseases, but the expressions about ‘cough and dyspnea＇, ‘abnormal rising of qi＇, ‘adverse flow of qi＇ are described, and the corresponding prescriptions are established. XU＇s TCM pediatrics recommends by ZHANG Zhong-jing who uses the method of warming-yang in treating asthma, which is manifested in the following ways： ②The use of Ephedra to disperse the lung and relieve asthma. ①The use of Xiaoqinglong Decoction to reduce phlegm and relieve asthma. ③The use of aconite based on the warming-yang method. XU＇s pediatrics thinks that yang-qi is the basic of the children. It is very important to protect yang, syndrome differentiation should be rigorous and the medication can be bold. Although all the medicines are the drastic remedy, they can play magic if they are used properly.
