陈荣捷与《道德经》翻译

Wing-tsit Chan and His English Translation of Dao De Jing

作为中哲西传的大师,陈荣捷在道家思想尤其是《道德经》的译介与传播中功不可没。通过对他翻译缘起的探索(包括对他翻译意图的勾勒和他对之前华人译本的评析)能够凸显出他的翻译路径即"以中释中",同时他的翻译标准也随之映现。陈荣捷在学术路径上打通了儒道西传之路,同时也成功融通了他的儒家思想传播与《道德经》翻译行为。

As the master who spread the Chinese philosophy from China to the west, Wing - tsit Chan contributed greatly to the spreading of Taoism especially the translation of Dao De Jing. Through the exploration of the origin of Dao De Jing translation （ including the combing of his translation intention and his comment on the previous English versions） we can find out his translation path, namely ＂imerpreting Chinese with Chinese discourse＂ , and his translation standards. He opened up the spreading Road of Confucianism and Taoism from the academic perspective, meanwhile combining the dissemination of Confucian thought with his translation behavior.
