The different understandings of going home from Chanu, Karim and Nazneen in the novel are explored with the help of ＂the third space＂. It is concluded that ＂the third space＂ theory pro- vides ways for minorities to search for their own ＂cultural orientation＂ and construct their identity. Therefore, this theory plays a prominent role for minorities in searching for their own ＂cultural orientation＂ and construc- ting their identity.
