Objective To discuss the influence of moderate intensity exercise in hot spring on extra-and intracranial hemodynamics in young and middle-aged patients with primary hypertension. Methods Fifty-four young and middle-aged patients with primary hypertension were recruited in this study. The hemodynamic parameters of carotid and intracranial artery and blood pressure were compared before and after swimming in hot spring. Results Compared with control group and with before hot spring swimming, there were significant decreases in systolic pressure and diastolic pressure after hot spring swimming ( P 〈 0.01, P 〈 0. 05 ). The blood supplies of vertebral artery( P 〈 0.01 ) , middle cerebral artery and anterior cerebral artery (P 〈 0.05 ) , as well as the hemodynamic parameters of posterior cerebral artery and basilar artery, were significantly improved after hot spring swimming ( P 〈 0.01, P 〈 0.05 ). Conclusion Hot spring exercise may improve extraand intracranial blood and oxygen supply, and depress blood pressure in young and middle-aged patients with primary hypertension.
