Theoretical Paradigms of Diasporas from a Transnational Perspective—A Review of Professor Liu Hong's Conceptualizations and Practices of Transnational Asia: China Model,Ethnic Network,and International Relations

刘宏教授的《跨界亚洲的理论与实践——中国模式·华人网络·国际关系》从跨界这个视域对华侨华人研究的理论范式进行了构建,如"中国模式"、"华人网络"、"国际关系"等。中国模式、华人网络、国际关系是我们研究跨界亚洲的理论与实践的三个重要的理论范式,对于我们研究跨界亚洲的理论与实践十分重要。按照这一路径,该书从理论与方法论的探寻、跨界亚洲的历史性与流动性、跨国华人与崛起的中国三个方面对既往的研究进行整理和批判性反思,通过整理和批判性反思,重构华人研究的新范式,既强调了范式在华人研究中的重要性,也说明了建构范式的可行性。

Professor Liu Hong＇s most celebrated work,Conceptualizations and Practices of Transnational Asia： China Model,Ethnic Network,and International Relations,creates theoretical paradigms of Chinese Diaspora studies from a transnational perspective,including ‘China Model＇,‘Ethnic Network＇,and ‘International Relations＇.These concepts serve as the leading paradigms for theory and practice in transnational Asian Studies. The main body of the book covers three sections： 1） theoretical and methodological inquiries; 2） transnational Asian historicity and mobility; and 3） transitional Chinese Diaspora and China＇s rising. Overall,the author attempts to elaborate both the importance of research paradigm in Chinese Studies,and the feasibility of paradigm creation by giving critical reflections of the existing literature.
