A Functional Approach to Grammatical Metaphor in Scientific Discourse

功能语言学认为语法隐喻产生于语义层和词汇语法层的重新匹配,是对经验的重新识解,也是人们识解经验的重要语义资源。科技语篇是人们对常识的重新识解和重构的语篇,语法隐喻从中发挥着重要作用。在功能语言学的框架内,从概念功能、人际功能和语篇功能三个方面探讨科技语篇中的语法隐喻作用,从而发现科技语篇中语法隐喻的特点及语法隐喻和科技语篇的联系。

Functional linguistics believes that grammatical metaphor emerges from the recoupling between semantics and lexicogrammar, which is the reconstrual of human experience and also regarded as the important semantic source of constru- ing experience. Scientific discourse is the one reconstruing and reconstructing common sense, in which grammatical meta- phor plays a very important role. In the frame of functional linguistics, this paper explores the ideational, interpersonal and textual functions of grammatical metaphor in scientific discourse, and further discovers the characteristics of grammatical metaphor in scientific discourse and the linkage between grammatical metaphor and scientific discourse.
