论商务英语专业培养学生思辨能力的优势与挑战

On the Advantages of Business English Major in Critical Thinking Education and the Challenges It Faces

培养大学生的思辨能力是高等教育的重要任务之一,在发达国家被认为是新世纪教育和研究的重点,在我国高等教育界也成为关注度较高的热点。从20世纪90年代开始,我国一些学者发现国内英语专业学生的思辨能力与他们掌握的英语语言能力不相称,出现了英语语言能力强而思辨能力较弱的问题。因此如何提高英语专业学生的思辨能力成为英语专业教学急需解决的一个问题。作为2007年获批的新兴专业,商务英语专业由于其课程设置和知识背景等多方面的特色,在培养学生思辨能力上拥有优势。本文从商务英语专业的特点入手,着重分析商务英语专业培养学生思辨能力的四大优势以及要面临的几大挑战。

Improving students＇ critical thinking skills is a popular research area in developed countries and has become a major priority in higher education in China. Since the 1990s, some researchers in China found English major students＇ critical thinking skills failed to live up to expectations and did not match their English language skills. Improving critical thinking skills is thus particularly urgent for those students. As one of the newly authorized majors in China, Business Eng- lish major has its advantages in critical thinking education. Starting with presenting the features of Business English major, this paper will analyze its four advantages and the challenges it faces in critical thinking education.
