托马斯·皮凯蒂一直坚持以历史与经济学研究方法相结合的风格研究财富分配问题。《21世纪资本论》即是其多年来研究成果的汇总缩影,试图通过经济历史的进程,以历史的眼光与经济学的分析,重新理解历史并得到新的结论。几乎与1980年代西方国家收入差距开始扩大同时,中国也出现了收入差距不断扩大的趋势。在继续强调提高经济发展效率的同时,中国如何公平地分配经济发展的成果,成为值得思考的重要课题。

Thomas Piketty has stuck to the principle of studying wealth distribution by combining methods of history study and economics.The book Capital in the Twenty-First Century is a reflection of his research results in many years.It tries to come to new conclusions and get new understanding of history through analyzing the economic history using the methods of history study and economics.While the Western countries saw their income gap begin to widen in the1980 s,China also started to suffer from the problem.As it stresses improvement in economic development efficiency,it is worth paying more attention to the important issue of how to distribute fruits of economic development in a fair and equitable manner.
