欧阳修是宋代文坛旗帜性的人物,他继承了韩愈、柳宗元古文运动的精神,散文说理畅达,抒情委婉,反对浮靡空泛,主张文章应"明道"、致用。在散文"明道"意识上,贴近现实生活,紧密联系时弊,抵制僵化风尚,重道而又重文,注重推陈出新,对当时以及后世散文创作都有很大影响。

Ouyang Xiu is the iconic figure in the literary world of Song dynasty. He inherits the spirit of ancient literature movement by Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan, uses a smooth way to tell reasons, and a tactful way to express feelings because he is against emptiness inside beautiful surface. He insists that proses should have ＂good morals＂ and be practical. With awareness of ＂good morals＂, his proses are close to real life, tightly connected to current events and malpractice, boycott the rigescent style, pay attention to both morals and culture and emphasize the importance of getting rid of the stale and bring forth the fresh, which have had a great impact on the prose creation of that time and later.
