Gao Yan is an innovative frontier writer in Northeast China. Early experience and spiritual growth had shaped her nomadic personality, and her prose is a kind of art form about the lack of personal experience. In the construction of artistic conceptions and images, Gao Yan adopted the means of ＂reminiscence＂ and ＂association＂ and chose ordinary objects for the establishment of nomadic literary space and ideographic system. At the same time, she described the his-tory of the Northeast frontier, erecting monuments and writing biographies for the heroines and heroes.
