Objective To investigate the psychosocial factors on family conflict resolution in navy personnel. Methods The Conflict Subscale (SCS) of Olson Marital Quality Questionnaire(ENRICH), Cartel 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF), Symptom Checklist (SCL- 90), Life Event Scale(LES), Trait Coping Questionnaire(TCSQ), Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS) were used to assess the psychosocial factors in 375 couples of navy service personnel. Results The differences in mental health, subjective support, internal and external growth factors to the new environment were significantly different between husband and wife in couples (t=2.10-15.025, P〈0.05). In addition, the factors related to personality, mental health, social support, life events and coping styles were significantly correlated with the interaction between their own and spouse's psychological factors (r=0.13-0.33, P〈0.05). Path analysis showed that personality, psychological and social support had direct effect on conflict resolution (β=0.26, P〈0.05;β=- 0.15, P〈0.05) and coping styles had indirect effects on mental health (β=0.16, P〈0.05;β=0.04, P〈0.05). Conclusion Conflict resolution can directly affect the marital satisfaction and marital quality, targeting intervention to various influencing factors may help spouses to resolve conflicts appropriately and improve the marital quality for navy personnel.
