In Trakl＇s poetry, the blue is an outstanding word because it appears so frequently. On the one hand,the blue image is aninheritance of the blue flower which was created by Novalis, a very noble romantic poet in German. On the other hand, it is an uniqueartistic means of expressing complex thoughts, so the blue contains more meaning than the blue flower. It is not only a symbol of thepain of love, but also a symbol of the holy mother＇s love and redemption of sin.
