In contemporary Chinese context,we live in a world with 'fancy' architectures. But to be fair, these so-called 'fancy' architectures are actually popular media darlings. They might not be disgusted by ordinary people if some social justice issues implied in government projects can be removed. On the contrary, ordinary people will be much less joyful without nitpicking and mocking them.Academic architects and people with architectural background are always irreconcilable with freak works. The article explores the origin and characteristics of these Chinese fancy architectures and their western counterparts from the perspective of architecture and sociology, and it also gives an analysis of their impact on social development in China.
