Public Art and Quality of City

公共艺术的概念最初是从城市雕塑的概念上发展起来的，在我国业内被广泛认知和接受也只有二十年左右的时间。在这里，还是有必要简单介绍一下公共艺术的概念。笔者对公共艺术是这样定义的：公共艺术是对城市雕塑的呈现方式。

The article discusses the practical subject how to improve the quality of city in present China through public art.It points out that we should take prudent attitude to know and introduce foreign contemporary cultural art since public art has been an imported thing.It also highlights the importance of acquiring the latest professional knowledge and idea for new city construction,thus forming the mature ideology for the development of city.Because of the close links with the latest ideas and art explorations,public art will be a factor to improve the quality of city and inevitably have its exploring significance and value in city development.
