摘要
亨利·詹姆斯被归在英语语言中最伟大的小说家之列,却很难以戏剧家的身份被人们所记忆。在里昂·埃德尔的努力下,詹姆斯的戏剧创作逐渐走入学者们的研究视野,人们开始关注其戏剧写作对小说的影响。詹姆斯小说中的戏剧化书写并非是他在戏剧创作失败后尝试的一种移植,他对戏剧的热爱以及实践是贯穿始终的。笔者选用詹姆斯早期和后期小说各一部,探讨其惯有的戏剧化书写的艺术特色——通过转移视角、隐匿作者、打造戏剧场景等手段为读者搭建一个舞台,营造出直观的现场感,小说的艺术张力因此得以增强。
Henry James was one of the greatest novelists in English,while he was seldom memorized as a dramatist in people's minds.With the efforts of Leon Edel,Henry James's drama gradually stepped into the public.Researchers began to focus on the influence of his drama in the field of novels.The dramatization in his novels was not a transplant after his failure of drama career.His passion and practice of drama started from his early phase of writing.This paper focuses on one of his early novels and later novels respectively and analyzes the artistic features of dramatization.Henry James set up a stage for readers by means of diverting the point of view,silencing the author,forging dramatic scene,thus creating the sense of presence.The artistic tension of the novels was enhanced accordingly.
