As a contemporary American Jewish writer, Philip Roth' Holocaust writing reveals the Holocaust from the edge gradually into the cognitive core of the American Jewish identity. This paper intends to explore the external context and internal characteristics of Roth's Holocaust writing from the perspectives of the patterns of Holocaust reception in the United States, the Holocaust writing paradoxical form as well as the spatial Holocaust. The author believes that Roth' Holocaust writing opens up the possibility of contemporary Jewish American Holocaust writing and shows the complex and diverse features of the contemporary Jewish identity.
