The Similarities and Differences Between the Thonghts of Shakespeare and Tang Xianzu by Analyzing Juliet and Du Liniay

中国明代著名戏剧家汤显祖与英国文艺复兴时期著名戏剧家莎士比亚是世界戏剧史上两座高峰，他们有着许多相同的戏剧理念和戏剧创意，尤其是汤显祖的得意之作《牡丹亭》和莎士比亚早期悲剧《罗密欧与朱丽叶》。通过比较《牡丹亭》和《罗密欧和朱丽叶》中两位女主人公，结合各自根植的文化，探讨莎士比亚和汤显祖的思想内涵的异同。

As the most remarkable playwrights in the world, Tang Xianzu of Ming Dynasty and Shakespeare of Britain are similar in the principle and idea on drama, which are typically showed in Tang＇ s masterpiece The Peony Pavilion and Shakespeare＇ s tragedy Romeo and Juliet. Based on the respective culture, this paper aims at comparing and contrasting the heroines in this two works to study the similarities and differences in Tang＇ s and Shakespeare＇ s thought.
