《最后的巫歌》通过一显一隐两条相互交织与印证的线索写了三峡地区一个土家族群的兴衰史。小说在对虎族日常生活和人物命运关照中,突显了几乎被现代文明抛弃和遗忘的古老图腾崇拜、神话信仰、巫歌巫祭等民俗文化和地方性知识,是一部典型的文化他者的民族志。
The novel The Last Tribal Song makes excellent use of two interweaving trails to depict the ups and downs of the native Hu clan of the the area of Three gorges. It is a fine example of impartial ethnography, bringing the ancient traditions and beliefs of the Hu clan, forgotten by our modern world, back into the limelight.
