高峰彝族火把节面具制作并为其开光、祭天、耍火把、扫邪驱鬼及送火把等仪式,表现出了当地彝族对星相变化的细心观察,天人合一的内心呼唤,娱人娱神的情感宣泄,古代征战的历史记忆,社会精英的地位彰显等文化内涵。

At the Torch Festival,the Yi People of Gaofeng perform a number of rituals,such as mak-ing masks,offering sacrifices to heaven,dancing with torches,expelling evil spirits and escorting torches. These rituals,resulting from the elaborate observation of the constellatory changes,represent the inner call for unity of heaven and man,the emotional release of recreative spirit,the warring history,and the stand-ing of social elite of the Yi people.
