Study on English Variety and Cultural Characteristics in Liberian Literature: Taking The Money Double as an Example

语言是民族构成的要素之一,使用本地化的英语可以避免用别人的语言讲述自己故事的尴尬。本文以"利比里亚当代文学之父"穆尔的小说《变钱者》为例,分析利比里亚文学作品中英语变体的使用,探究利比里亚英语变体的诸项文化特征。

Language is one of the elements of ethnic,and using the localized English can avoid the embarrassment of telling story with others＇ language. Bai T. Moore is regarded as the ＂father of contemporary Liberian literature＂. His novel The Money Doubler differs drastically from the other Liberian works. This paper offers an analysis of the English variety used in the novel and explores its cultural identities.
