Xie Hui's Experiences in Clinical Treatment of Vocal Nodules and Polyp

声带小结、声带息肉是以声音嘶哑为主要表现的喉科疾病,二者在中医学的认识中,可属于久瘖之范畴。前人认为久瘖多因为外邪久滞,脾肾不足,心火炽盛,风、痰、火作祟,而肺窍不利所致,教材则认为声带小结、声带息肉属痰瘀互结型。谢慧副教授临证,认为声带小结、声带息肉与痰、瘀关系密切,然正虚亦是关键因素。在声带小结、息肉的治疗中,谢慧副教授根据病情,从痰、瘀、虚出发,根据邪实、正虚情况,变法制方,分阶段论治,消痰散结、化瘀补虚,重视条畅气机,善于运用血肉有情之品,重视调护,以纯中医药方法治疗声带小结及息肉疗效显著。

Vocal nodules and polyp are the laryngeal diseases manifested as hoarseness. Both of the diseases are in the category of＂jiuyin＂in traditional Chinese medicine. The ancient scholar believed that the diseases are caused by long - term retention of exogenous pathogen, insufficiency of spleen and kidney and excessive heart fire, interaction of wind, phlegm and fire and lung dysfunction. It is mentioned in teaching material that vocal nodules and polyp are caused by interaction of phlegm and stasis. In clinical treatment, associate Prof. Xie Hui thought that these diseases are closely related to phlegm and stasis, and the deficiency of antipathogenic qi is the key factor. Based on the sickness condition, the formulas are selected in view of phlegm, stasis and deficiency. The diseases are treated in stages according to excess of pathogen and deficiency of antipathogenic qi so as to resolve phlegm, removing masses, eliminating stasis and tonifying for the deficiency. The treatment focuses on smoothing qi activity with the herbal products with blood, muscle and emo- tion. The simple approach of Chinese medicine achieves the significant efficacy on vocal nodules and polyp.
