八姐是诺贝尔文学奖得主莫言的代表作《丰乳肥臀》中的人物。她与中外文学史中的"多余人"比较,有着明显的另类特征。她是天生的瞎女孩,出生在战乱贫穷的年代,因为人的愚昧和凶残使她不能生存,只好自杀。八姐的悲剧命运令人思考:人类需要构建良好的社会。

The eighth elder sister is a character in Big Breasts and Wide Hips by MO Yan, a winner of Nobel Prize for Literature. Compared with other images of ＂superfluous person＂ in the history of Chinese and western literature, she has distinctive weird features. She was born blind in poverty and wars; she cannot survive and has to commit suicide for the stupidity and cruelty of human beings. Her tragic fate is worth reflection ： human beings need to build a kind society.
