The tobacco industry started from scratch and developed rapidly in China. As an integrated system, it involved the cultivation and acquisition of tobacco materials, the manufacture and marketing of prod,ucts and the final consumption. The acquisition was the basement of this system, which underwent a transformation from relying on import te depending on domestic production, formed three important planting areas in China, and constituted a huge purchasing network. This network linked tobacco farmers and advanced industrial production.
