In pressure vessel periodic inspection, thickness measurement of the connecting pipe is easily to be ignored. It is discussed whether it＇s necessary to measure the thickness or not from two aspects which are internal pressure load and opening reinforcement in this paper. And the applicable scope of＂no need＂ and ＂need＂ of thickness measurement are specified, which is beneficial to standardize the inspection process and ensure the correct results in pressure vessel periodic inspection.
