The symbol system is a tool for human communication, while the process of interpersonal communication is in effect the process of information transfer and effective communication by means of language and non-language symbols as the carrier. Us-ing theories of psychology and linguistics, this paper mainly ex-pounds how, in interpersonal communication, to correctly use symbols as carriers, namely paying attention to skills and tech-niques of communication, thus accurately expressing emotions. It hopes to provide a reference for people to establish a good inter-personal relationship through the flexible use of the symbol sys-tem for interpersonal communication.
