摘要
自后殖民翻译理论进入中国,国内翻译界对其与语言学翻译学派之间的差异论述较多,对之与描写翻译学派之间分歧则鲜有详尽论述。1999年西班牙的"威茨论坛"上,这两大学派的论战激烈,并引发《目标》杂志上为期三年的大辩论。本文拟对论坛和辩论的焦点——"翻译研究之共同基础"一文进行解读,分析后殖民翻译学派和描写翻译学派关注的共同话题,剖析二者之间的两大分歧:是否承认意义的稳定性,是否承认描写研究的客观性。
＂Shared Grounds in Translation Studies＂ is an embodiment of the hot debate between Postcolonial studies and Descriptive studies at the Vic Forum in 1999 in Spain, which initiated a three-year-long debate in Target. This essay aims to interpret the 30 ＂shared grounds＂ and two separate ＂codas＂ listed in the thesis so as to make explicit the divergences between the two approaches and the underlying reasons, which can be summarized as their incompati- bilities on the stability of meaning and the objectivity of descriptive studies.
