摘要
阿里安事件是"9·11"事件后美国出现的与学术自由相关的重要事件。在"9·11"事件后形成的特殊的社会—政治环境下,学术自由在美国面临严峻的挑战与危机,反对恐怖主义成为某些利益集团干预学术自由的利器。与此同时,以美国大学教授协会为代表的大学教师团体为维护学术自由而开展了艰难的斗争。阿里安事件说明造成学术自由易于受外界政治和社会形势变化冲击的基本原因在于学术自由本身所包含的不确定性,同时也使捍卫学术自由的斗争成为一场永无止境的竞赛。
Al-Arian Case is one of the important cases which are related to academic freedom after the 911 event. Based on the relevant historical documents,this paper combsthrough the full story of Al-Arian Case,then analyzes the challenges and crisis of academicfreedom after the 911 event and the struggle for academic freedom of university teachersrepresented by American Association of University Professors. This paper argues that theuncertainty of academic freedom makes itself easy to be impacted by the changing situationof politic and society,and at the same time the struggle for academic freedom becomes anever-ending race.
