摘要 It has been 30 years, but Wang Kerong clearly remembers the fears expressed by many of the reed- school students as they were about to graduate. Around that time, officials from Beijing Ditan Hospital, the largest hospital for infectious diseases in China's capital, visited Beijing Nurses' School to recruit graduates. In 1984, Wang, who had studied nursing, was about to graduate. "Back then, most of my schoolmates were reluctant to accept, as they thought they might get infected with diseases while they worked in the hospital," Wang recalls. "However, my class adviser, encouraged me, then-secretary of the class's League (Communist Youth League) branch, to set an example for my schoolmates, l accepted a nurse's position in the hospital's department of liver diseases."
