A Focused Exploration on Public Signs with Lingnan Distinctive Features

基于翻译全球本土化的考量,具有文化特色的公示语的译写应该跟其他类型公示语有所区别,以彰显公示语的文化承载功能与效用,实现目标受众与翻译文本之间的深层互动与文化交流。岭南特色公示语的特点主要集中在曲艺、民俗、建筑、手工艺及饮食文化等方面,这些文本的英译分析展示了此类特色公示语的翻译策略及所应遵循的基本规律。

Based on the globalization of translation, the bilingual version of public signs with Lingnan distinctive features should be different from other types of signs. Those signs of Lingnan folk arts, folk customs,architectures, artifacts and cuisine should follow certain basic rules and translation strategies so as to give full play to the culture-loaded function of public signs. This would facilitate the deep interaction and cultural exchanges between the target audience and the translated text.
