《琵琶行》的许渊冲英译本中隐喻的翻译方法及美学效果

Metaphor Translation Methods and Their Aesthetic Effects in XU Yuanchong's English Version of Pipa Xing

《琵琶行》是我国古诗歌中的经典,诗中大量使用的隐喻使其具有审美价值。《琵琶行》在文学上的崇高地位使得其译本颇多,然而对其译本的研究却不多见,针对译本翻译中的隐喻和美学效果进行的研究则更为罕见。本文通过分析《琵琶行》中隐喻的具体实例,试从隐喻的四种翻译方法及其产生的美学效果方面探讨许渊冲的英译本对诗歌翻译中隐喻的处理手法,指出隐喻的翻译是不仅仅是一个文字转换的过程,更是一个认知转化过程,只有这样才能产生美的效果。

As a piece of classic Chinese poetry,Pipa Xing is rich in metaphors with special aesthetic value. Its exalted literary status prompts many scholars to translate it into English,but there are few studies aimed particularly at translation versions. Even rarer are studies of metaphor translation and corresponding aesthetic effects. This paper analyzes metaphorical examples in Pipa Xing,and explores XU Yuanchong＇s four metaphor translation methods in poetry translation,and their aesthetic effects. It then points out that metaphor translation is not only a process of word conversion,but also one of cognitive transformation. Only in this way can it produce aesthetic effects.
