中国文化是东方文化的典型代表,美国文化是西方文化的融合体。比较两种典型的代表,我们能有更全面的了解美国文化和回顾五千年的中国传统文化。为此文章选用了近几年热播的美国电视剧《绝望的主妇》进行个案研究。该剧的一系列故事发生在紫藤街。它是关于四个家庭主妇生活的故事,伴随着她们一系列的谜团纷争,包括她们的丈夫,朋友和邻居。她们的日常对话幽默而且委婉。剧中体现中美文化差异的例子不胜枚举。

The Chinese culture is a typical representative of the Oriental culture, the American culture is a fusion body of the western culture .Compare the two typical representative, we can have a more comprehensive understanding of American culture and review five thousand years of Chinese traditional culture. As a case study, the essay will analyze the application of euphemism and Sino-US cultural differences in a popular American series The Desperate Housewives. The series happened in Wisteria Lane. It was a story about lives of four housewives, following their domestic struggles with several mysteries involving their husbands, friends and neighbors. Through their daily life we can see the cultural differences between America and China. The tone of the series is full of humor and euphemisms. As a language case study, the conversation of the ordinary people is very suitable and more vivid. For this reason I choose this series as my case study.
