Library users have got much wider sources for information in the Internet era. Academic libraries,in order to go out the building and to avoid their marginalization of service, need to promote embedded services, which are user - centered and provide professional and convenient information services. The paper chooses 20 top American academic libraries as sample, and investigates their status of embedded service in terms of using social network, utilizing information technology and tools, subject librarians services, collaborating with teachers in classes, etc. Its main purpose is to enlighten the development of embedded service in users.＇ teaching and learning environment of academic libraries in home.
