Shame is a political fable fiction by Salman Rushdie. It shapes many female images who were oppressed by soci- ety and the women have a close connect with Pakistan＇ s political reality. Rushdie subverts the male authority in western culture by using the classic fairy tale ＂Beauty and the Beast＂. The fates of female characters in the novel show the imaginar- y country＇ s new regime ＇ s savage and cruel nature. The author lets the women run from the edge into the center of the story and write the story which really belongs to them.
