A Typological Discussion on the Classification of Evaluation Speech Act in Chinese

摘要评价言语行为与抱怨、称赞、同意/异议等言语行为都有交叉之处,而这三者分属于Searle(1979)分类中的断言(assertives)与感言(expressives),因此对评价言语行为的归属也在断言/感言之分上存在争议。根据Searle(1969)的言语行为分类标准,考察评价言语行为与抱怨、称赞、同意/异议等言语行为的异同,认为评价言语行为与感言在分类的三大标准上一致,评价言语行为应归类于感言类。 Evaluation speech act, as one of the ＂ new face＂ in speech act studies, raises a question about its classification. The complaint, （ dis） agreement, compliment speech acts were claimed to be highly related to the evaluation speech act, but the three are categorized into different classes with the former two being assertives and the last one being expressives according to Searle （1979）. Therefore, it becomes a problem whether the evaluation speech act should be classified as assertives or expressives. The present study aims to clarify this problem via the discussion on the differences and similarities between the evaluation and the relevant speech acts according to Searle （ 1969 ）＇s criteria of speech act classification. The conclusion is expected to be useful for later studies of the evaluation speech act.
