There are two public health revolutions in China: the victory of the first health revolution and the development of the second revolution indicate that the disease pattern is transforming from the prevalence of infectious disease and parasitosis to the rapid increase of chronic non-communicable diseases. The chronic non-communicable diseases( NCD),in particular, cardiovascular disease and cerebrovascular disease, have become the main health problems which threaten residents ' health, lead to the excessive growth of medical cost, and damage the quality of labor force. The unhealthy living habits and environmental factors are the principal contributors to present disease patterns, which should be regard as the current and future major public health issues. At the same time, emerging infectious diseases appear endlessly, while old infectious diseases occur again. Under such circumstances, the public health work should still focus on the prevention and control of infectious diseases in the future.
