Based on the review of the researches of the scientific images in the visual historiography of science in recent decades, it was suggested in this paper that modern science and art have deep homology in the history and homogeneousness in cognitive paradigms. The European Renaissance is regarded as the common origin of modern science and art, while the observation, description and explanation about things is regarded as the same objective of science and art for almost all of the history of human. It is not until more than 100 years ago did the division betweenscience and art emerge.
