To further study changes of cognition attitudes and purchasing intention of science and engineering postgraduates towa~ the genetically modified foods, a reinvestigation is carried out in June 2013, after the investigation in December 2010. In this investigation, 490 science and engineering postgrad- uates were randomly selected as samples. Results show novel characteristics that the postgraduates still have a relatively high degree of cognition to GM organisms and GM foods. Specifically, the ratio of the postgraduates who cautiously support or hold neutral attitude to the GM foods is 78.02 % ; the ratio of postgraduates who absolutely approve or oppose them is relatively small; and when the prices are comparative, the ratio of postgraduates who prefer to purchase conventional foods is reduced to 77.29% from 99.30%. Purchasing intention results show that the price has great influence on consumption tendency, 61.12% of the postgraduates would purchase the GM foods if the price were reduced by 40%. However, still 11.84% of the postgraduates claimed that they would never buy the GM lbods even if thc price is as low as they could be. The results demonstrate that the science and engineering post- graduates have relatively rational cognition to the GM foods; professional learning has significant influence on the cognition degree toward the GM foods; a majority of respondents hold support or cautiously support attitudes to the GM organisms; and the price is the key factor influencing the purchasing intention.
