English reading ability is one of the important symbolic elements used to measure the mastering of English comprehensive ability. Aiming at the characteristics of students in higher vocational colleges, put forward the 5W theory used in English teaching to cultivate the students＇ ability in English self-study and open up the way of self-study with good learning methods and habits.
