A Brief Analysis of the Thoughts of Su Shi's Poetry Showed to his Sons and Nephews

苏轼诗集中有一类写给子侄们的诗歌,这些诗歌集中体现了苏轼的教子思想:一方面重视家学传统,敦促子侄学艺的进步;而另一方面又流露出读书无用的矛盾思想。

There is a certain type of poems written for his sons and nephews in Su Shi’s poetry. These poems reflected the thoughts of Su Shi in educating children. On the one hand, Su Shi put a high value on literature and history which was his family tradition, so he was glad to see the progress of his sons and nephews; on the other hand, there is a contradiction in Su Shi’s works that he sometimes thought reading is useless.
